May 2nd, 2007 | by Futt | 525 viewsMake sense to you? Well according to this site,
It’s the HD-DVD Processing Key for most movies released so far. I was not aware that a string of numbers and letters was copyrightable. Perhaps its just my ignorance but it seems that someone is abusing the DMCA again.
Apparently this top-secret number has caused the MPAA to fling DMCA takedown notices around like confetti. Good thing I’m not American, and thus not subject to the DMCA.
Update (05.05.2007): A hack is now available that, according to the author, even defeats the AACS key revocation system. That is, the DVDCCA can change the 09-F9-* key all they want, the system is broken and it won’t do them any good. Whee. More on the Doom9 Forums.
In other news, the DVDCCA has vowed to go after bloggers posting the key and related cracks/exploits. Good luck on that, I think you’d be hard pressed to find a blogger who hasn’t posted it yet.

Admit it, you only posted this to recieve a cease and desist letter, so you feel american! I knew it. You closet-american. ;)
Hehe would be cool to get one - I’d frame it and hang it in my office!
The hexadecimal string itself is not copyright, but it falls under the “anti-circumvention” measures in the DMCA.
However, don’t be so certain that the MPAA can’t get at you. What about those lovely Google ads on the side? Where’s Google based again? Hmmm.
