My current webhost has been a bit up-and-down lately, some downtime and long periods of extremely slow page loads. Sometimes it’s the SQL server that’s choking, but frequently the web server itself is slow as well. Shared hosting sucks I guess, which is why I am currently considering a Virtual Private Server from Webfusion. It’s like co-location, only cheaper, and you get full root access to the OS and can install/upgrade software at your leisure. Webfusion sits on some really fat pipes as well, and there is no bandwidth cap on their VPS deals. Good stuff!
Will probably order a VPS package from them next week or so, and begin migrating this site to the new server. Going to take that opportunity to do a fresh WP install (this one is checked out of SVN and hacked to hell, afraid to touch anything heh), import content and set up a few addons. This may lead to some downtime while everything is moved over.
Update: Server space has been ordered, awaiting setup. During the domain transfer downtime can be expected.
