Flixster Feed Plugin
October 4th, 2007 | by Futt | 6,067 viewsWorking on a plugin to display recent Flixster reviews in a Worpress widget. Flixster doesn’t publish any RSS feeds, but the backend for their Flash applet thingy does suck down an XML-based feed which can be easily parsed. The first beta version of the plugin is displayed in the sidebar on this site (scroll down, muppet!). Currently it’s not configurable without editing the code, and there are some ugly hacks in there. Once I get that all sorted I might release it for public consumption.
Oh and there’s no caching of feeds nor images – better get that sorted too…

Hello,
Any progress on this potential plugin? I’d love to use something like this on my site. Any news would be great!
Thanks,
Tyler
Hi, Tyler!
I am kicking about quite a few ideas, however development is more or less on hold at the moment. The reason for that is that the great guys over at Flixster are currently working on a public API that will make this plugin a lot easier, enable more features, and most importantly – provide a stable data source.
Once I can get my paws on the API, I will update this. For now it’s on the backburner though.
Thanks for your interest =)
Hello all,
I’ve done preliminary work on a flixster wordpress widget here: http://purple.monk.free.fr/phiva/?page_id=104
It doesn’t seem to be possible to fetch other reviews than the most recent ones for now :-( Do you think about OpenSocial as a future public API for Flixster?
Regards,
Here’s a Yahoo Pipe that gives you a feed of your recent reviews.
